I just thought I would quickly post a link to a great blog post that I read a couple of days ago:
Why Design By Committee Should Die
It's got some great points in it which we come across very often.
It's apt for us, and it's also apt for clients when they think about setting up an internal focus group to decide on how their site/app should progress. In most cases - don't.
Enjoy.

read that with interest - something happen yesterday?!? Mainly I agree - you should trust your designers and accept their professional judgement. However, sometimes designers can work in a rarefied atmosphere that can be disconnected from their client's customers. If the client doesn't have detailed information on what their clients might want, then they'd be foolish to completely cede control to designers who may not really 'know' what is really appropriate. You can get some good judgement from crowd-sourcing and it can throw up things you hadn't thought of. But mainly it's a bad thing.
